Silicones - Condensation Cure

RTVS 49
THERMALLY CONDUCTIVE RTV SILICONE COMPOUND

DESCRIPTION

RTVS 49 is a red, pourable RTV Silicone potting/casting compound with high thermal conductivity. RTVS 49 cures to firm but flexible rubber, capable of withstanding temperatures of 500°F continuous and 600°F short term exposure. RTVS 49 finds use in electronic devices requiring heat dissipation.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Pre-mix RTVS 49 in its original container to reincorporate any filler that may have settled prior to use.
2. Weigh out the required amount of RTVS 49.
3. Measure the required amount of CAT-2 (DBT). See RTVS Catalyst Selector Guide.
4. Mix thoroughly, scraping the sides and bottom of container.
5. Evacuate at 29 in. Hg.
6. Pour into unit or cavity.

CURE SCHEDULES:
(Using 0.3% CAT-2 (DBT)
Overnight at room temperature (24 hours at 25°C).
NOTE: Full properties will develop in 4-7 days or after a post cure of three hours at 65°C.

HANDLING PRECAUTIONS:
RTV silicone rubber base compounds and the curing agents for addition cure products are non-hazardous and practically non-toxic. Curing agents for condensation cure products contain tin soaps which can irritate eyes and skin of some individuals. Avoid contact with skin; if contact occurs, wash affected areas at once with soap and water. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes; call a physician.

PLEASE REFER TO MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET FOR FURTHER FIRST AID INFORMATION.
