Silicones - Addition Cure

RTVS 903
CLEAR, LOW VISCOSITY SILICONE RUBBER

DESCRIPTION

RTVS 903 is a low viscosity, equal mix ratio silicone rubber system. It will cure at room temperature, or at elevated temperatures to a clear, transparent rubber. It is ideally suited for encapsulation purposes where repairability is important. For applications where high strength is not critical, RTVS 903 offers a lower cost alternative to RTVS 61. If high adhesion to surfaces is critical, the use of RTVS Primer 44 or 45 is suggested. While Insulcast RTVS 903 will cure overnight at room temperature, elevated temperatures can greatly accelerate the cure.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

Measure out equal amounts of Part A and B by weight or volume into a clean container and stir thoroughly. This is important. Vacuum degas to 29mm Hg if thermal cure is to be used. With room temperature cure, most entrapped air bubbles will escape during the cure. Allow to cure with one of the following schedules: Overnight - 25°C, 2 hours - 65°C, 30 minutes - 100°C, 15 minutes 125°C, 8 minutes - 150°C.

SPECIAL NOTES:
Certain materials may inhibit the cure of RTVS 903 when placed in contact with the mixed, uncured rubber. Materials such as amines and amine cured epoxies, sulfur containing materials and condensation (tin cured) silicones, are some which may cause inhibition. Even surfaces which have been in contact with such materials may cause it. If in doubt, a patch test should be done.

HEALTH CAUTION:
RTV silicone rubber base compounds and the curing agents for addition cure products are non-hazardous and practically non-toxic. Curing agents for condensation cure products contain tin soaps which can irritate eyes and skin of some individuals. Avoid contact with skin; if contact occurs, wash affected areas at once with soap and water. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, flush with water for 15 minutes; call a physician.
